[SPEAKER_01]: A terrifying home invasion leaves a young mother fighting for her life while her children are just feet away. [SPEAKER_01]: But when her attacker reveals who sent him, the nightmare takes an even darker turn. [SPEAKER_01]: Join me, John Conner, as I discuss the attack of Bellatoras.

43 [SPEAKER_01]: This is Check The Lockspotcast. [SPEAKER_01]: Hello and thank you for joining me as I dive into yet another truly terrifying true crime case. [SPEAKER_01]: As always, before we begin, I hope you're doing well, I hope you're having a great week. [SPEAKER_01]: And I just want to say thank you for letting me hang out with you today while you tackle whatever it is you have going on. [SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully you had an amazing Halloween. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope you got your spooky on, your ghost, your ghouls, your goblins. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a blast hanging out with a family and taking the kids trick or treating. [SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome to see all the kids roaming the street and having just so much fun.

26 [SPEAKER_01]: We also had a great time in the Facebook group. [SPEAKER_01]: People were showing off costumes and talking scary movies. [SPEAKER_01]: It really was an awesome month and now it's over and I'm super bummed out. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to make it through because it's okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I still get to hang out with all of you amazing listeners, all the wonderful locksmiths. [SPEAKER_01]: So before we get into this week's case, I did just want to cover some housekeeping updates real quick. [SPEAKER_01]: First, this case will be a short on time for this episode, not to get too personal with everyone, but I've had some changes in my day job unexpectedly, and I've been moved to a new position that I was not expecting to be in, and because of that, my schedule has had a pretty big shake up, and I'll be working some weird hours compared to normal throughout the month of November.

14 [SPEAKER_01]: So just to be totally upfront and honest with you, we may have a few shorties that pop up this month, but after that, once everything is acclimated, I'm back to my normal schedule, we will go back to those normal episodes. [SPEAKER_01]: So the big thing for me is just making sure that y'all get a case to listen to every single week. [SPEAKER_01]: So I really appreciate your patience while I'm going through this change. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, it really means the world. [SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, we're still going to have those episodes just bear with me because it is a little bit of a time of transition. [SPEAKER_01]: Now that I have that out of the way, the second thing that I wanted to talk about, this episode is actually dropping on election day. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, before I get into it, I know that we have a lot of different listeners with a lot of different backgrounds and a lot of different views.

58 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll be honest, that is something that I truly love about this little family that we've created here at check the locks. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that it is super important that everyone use their voice. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you haven't early voted, get out there, cast your ballot. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't care who you vote for. [SPEAKER_01]: vote your conscience, but just make sure that you're vote. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's super important. [SPEAKER_01]: So just wanted to say that, just do that civic duty. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's enough of my Gabby Gabby. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the stabby stabby. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll go ahead and break down this week's case. [SPEAKER_01]: On October 16th, police responded to a home in Buckeye, Arizona, just outside of Phoenix. [SPEAKER_01]: And once they arrived, they found a woman understandably shaken, and she would later be identified as Bellatoras.

44 [SPEAKER_01]: According to Bella, an intruder had tried to break into her house, trying to attack her while she was home alone with her two children, a two-month-old and a 17-month-old. [SPEAKER_01]: Bella had been home with her fiance, Xerian Dyer, before he left to go to the grocery store. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was after Dyer left that Bella noticed a strange man at her front door. [SPEAKER_01]: His head inside the home, peering around. [SPEAKER_01]: When Bella saw the man, she moved her 17-month-old behind her, and it was then that the man asked if he could use the bathroom. [SPEAKER_01]: Bella refused and tried to close the door, but the man attacked, kicking it open and entering the home, before grabbing Bella by the throat and beginning to choke her.

27 [SPEAKER_01]: The struggle continued through the home with the attacker forcing Bella into a bathroom before closing the door behind him. [SPEAKER_01]: Once inside, he attempted to sexually assault the mother of two, trying to unbutton her pants before grabbing at her breasts. [SPEAKER_01]: But the fight continued, and Bella eventually pulled the man outside into the driveway. [SPEAKER_01]: During which the attack was caught on the family's home security camera, but it was what the man said while being recorded that was the most frightening. [SPEAKER_01]: As they tussled, the man yelled, your boyfriend told me you'd be into this. [SPEAKER_01]: neighbors heard Bella scream and they called the police, but the man fled before they arrived. [SPEAKER_01]: The attacker would later be identified as 23-year-old Adrian Ayhalla, and he would be arrested at his home the following day.

14 [SPEAKER_01]: On October 18th, two days after the attack, Eialis didn't court. [SPEAKER_01]: Telling the judge that he had been contacted by Dyer Online, Eialis claimed that Dyer had instructed him to go to the home for a quote, role-play scenario, saying that he believed Bella to be consenting and that he had no intention of committing a felony. [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, detectives would examine both Ayahala's and Dyer's devices, and they were able to find sufficient evidence to show that Dyer and Ayahala had been communicating about the assault. [SPEAKER_01]: With this evidence in hand, Dyer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual abuse, kidnapping, and conspiracy.

55 [SPEAKER_01]: He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. [SPEAKER_01]: I always trial a scheduled to begin on April 1, 2027, and at the time of this recording, the date of Dyer's first court appearances unknown. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's this week's short on time, and I definitely have some final thoughts to share. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you've listened to this podcast for a while, you know that home invasions are the cases that really get me. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say that in anything that has to do with kids, and this case hits both of those for me. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine how scared Bella must have been, not just for herself, but for her children. [SPEAKER_01]: She's home. [SPEAKER_01]: She's got a 17-month-old, a two-month-old. [SPEAKER_01]: You're in your house in this place that's supposed to be the safest, and all of a sudden that sense of security is destroyed.

42 [SPEAKER_01]: It's taken not only from you, but from your toddler. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this show was almost one and a half years old. [SPEAKER_01]: And why they may not understand the scope or, you know, what exactly is going on, they definitely know enough to say, like, hey, I'm scared and I know I'm not safe. [SPEAKER_01]: So, [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it was just very unsettling to me. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think the most terrifying thing about this case is the active betrayal. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to think that your spouse could just be online, planning to have you attacked and sexually assaulted, it's just so disturbing. [SPEAKER_01]: And no motive has been publicly released yet, but I am very interested in following this case. [SPEAKER_01]: But, [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if this was just some kind of dark kink that Xary and Dyer had, or if it was something more sinister.

31 [SPEAKER_01]: Which, you know, I've said it before when Olivia was on the podcast, like, we don't kink shame here. [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone has got their thing, but everyone involved needs to be consenting. [SPEAKER_01]: And in this case, Bella Torres absolutely did not. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I don't know how you just show up at someone's house for a role-play scenario without talking to everyone involved first. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there would need to be contracts or release a signed something, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not just showing up and being like, where your husband's soda was okay? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you can't engage in this kind of thing without having everyone on board. [SPEAKER_01]: So again, [SPEAKER_01]: To me, this just really seems like some kind of dark fantasy of diers, but I really do hope that both he and Iala get the time that they deserve for putting Bella and her kids through such a horrendous ordeal.

24 [SPEAKER_01]: But if we're talking debble tests, this is gonna be a nine for me. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, just thinking about my wife being home with our daughter and someone breaking in like that, it would be the most terrifying thing in the world. [SPEAKER_01]: But as always, I wanna hear from you, the listeners, the locksmiths, where does the attack on Bellatoras fall on your debble tests? [SPEAKER_01]: You can let me know.
