[SPEAKER_01]: Join me, John Connor, as we discussed the monster of Alentown.

01:07.383 --> 01:27.565
[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to do extend a huge heartfelt thank you to our listeners, the members of our community, the members of our family for your patience with me, not to get too personal with everyone, but when I got back from our trip for Halloween, I actually got sick and then got moved into a different position in my day job that I had to do training for.

01:27.545 --> 01:47.292
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the company that I worked for actually went through a massive, massive round of layoffs and so luckily I was, I was spared from that, but it's been a very hectic few weeks and these were all things I was not expecting when a Olivia steps away and I was leaving town for, for Halloween so.

01:47.272 --> 01:54.089
[SPEAKER_01]: I know this is a little bit longer in the running than we expected, but I'm so happy to be back.

01:54.490 --> 01:56.094
[SPEAKER_01]: It is Thanksgiving week.

01:56.114 --> 02:00.766
[SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to say I wish all of you a very, very wonderful Thanksgiving.

02:01.227 --> 02:03.272
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you enjoy time with friends.

02:03.252 --> 02:07.136
[SPEAKER_01]: family, and I could not miss Thanksgiving and not put on an episode for everybody.

02:07.196 --> 02:11.861
[SPEAKER_01]: So new episodes are going to drop on Tuesday with my new position.

02:11.921 --> 02:13.463
[SPEAKER_01]: It just gives me a little bit more time.

02:14.004 --> 02:16.707
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to drop once a week on Tuesday.

02:16.727 --> 02:21.192
[SPEAKER_01]: If you follow us on Patreon, you will get those episodes on Monday.

02:21.272 --> 02:22.593
[SPEAKER_01]: So please be on the lookout for that.

02:22.613 --> 02:24.435
[SPEAKER_01]: They'll come out a little bit earlier for you there.

02:25.076 --> 02:27.298
[SPEAKER_01]: But just super, super happy to be back.

02:27.318 --> 02:28.059
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be honest with you.

02:28.079 --> 02:30.762
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still tweaking the format here a little bit.

02:30.742 --> 02:38.450
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to kind of figure it out as it goes and this is as new for you as it is for me And I'm excited to see how everything plays out.

02:38.590 --> 02:43.435
[SPEAKER_01]: So again, just wanted to say a huge thank you Thank you for hanging in there with me.

02:43.475 --> 02:54.707
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I have a really interesting case that I am looking forward to covering with everyone And then we'll talk about a little bit on the back end, but for now, let's just kick off season two, go ahead and jump on into it

02:56.813 --> 03:03.522
[SPEAKER_01]: On June 28th, 1993, 38-year-old Denise Sam Cali was alone in her Allentown Pennsylvania home.

03:04.404 --> 03:06.867
[SPEAKER_01]: Her husband was out of town, traveling for work.

03:08.029 --> 03:10.652
[SPEAKER_01]: That evening Denise climbed into bed and went to sleep.

03:11.514 --> 03:15.379
[SPEAKER_01]: But at some point during the night, she was woken by strange noise.

03:16.102 --> 03:19.369
[SPEAKER_01]: The noise seemed to be coming from a walking closet near the bedroom door.

03:20.250 --> 03:25.681
[SPEAKER_01]: Terrified Denise tried to run from the house, and it was then that an unknown intruder grabbed her.

03:26.282 --> 03:30.611
[SPEAKER_01]: However, Denise was able to get out of the house, but the attacker grabbed her again.

03:30.671 --> 03:37.705
[SPEAKER_01]: Throwing her down on the home's front walkway, flipping her on to her back and using his knees to pin her to the ground.

03:38.663 --> 03:40.807
[SPEAKER_01]: Denise tried to fight back, but it was no use.

03:41.528 --> 03:46.076
[SPEAKER_01]: Her attacker placed his hand over her mouth, choking her while striking Denise in the face.

03:46.937 --> 03:47.879
[SPEAKER_01]: But she wouldn't give up.

03:48.560 --> 03:52.187
[SPEAKER_01]: Denise was able to strike back, and she bit the attacker in the upper arm.

03:52.928 --> 03:55.873
[SPEAKER_01]: But despite this, the assailant was still able to rape her.

03:57.075 --> 04:02.224
[SPEAKER_01]: After he ran through the back of the house, escaping through the back patio door and into the night.

04:02.407 --> 04:09.076
[SPEAKER_01]: When it was over, Denise called the police immediately, and when they arrived, officers noted the wounds that the woman had suffered.

04:09.777 --> 04:15.544
[SPEAKER_01]: She had been severely beaten about the head, strangulation marks were found on her neck and her lip had been cut.

04:16.545 --> 04:20.451
[SPEAKER_01]: While searching the home, investigators found a butcher knife near the bathroom door.

04:21.212 --> 04:23.875
[SPEAKER_01]: The handle was wrapped in a paper napkin.

04:23.990 --> 04:32.599
[SPEAKER_01]: It appeared that even though Denise had suffered a terrible attack, her assailant may have had something far worse planned, and she was lucky to be alive.

04:33.681 --> 04:41.509
[SPEAKER_01]: Denise's husband would arrive home and the couple would leave the house for a while after the attack, but the attacker was about to strike again.

04:41.529 --> 04:47.736
[SPEAKER_01]: In two weeks later, on July 14, 1993, another victim would be found.

04:48.577 --> 04:53.502
[SPEAKER_01]: 47-year-old Jessica Jean Fortney was living with her daughter Louise and her son-in-law Ricky.

04:54.302 --> 05:02.970
[SPEAKER_01]: On the night before, everyone went to sleep as usual, but when Louise and Ricky woke up in the morning at about 7am, they made a brutal discovery.

05:03.891 --> 05:08.215
[SPEAKER_01]: The body of Jessica Jean Fortney was found on the sofa of the home's front room.

05:09.116 --> 05:15.782
[SPEAKER_01]: She was half naked, her shorts and panties

05:16.859 --> 05:22.966
[SPEAKER_01]: Jessica's face was swollen and black, and blood had dried around her lips, eyes, nostrils, and neck.

05:23.767 --> 05:29.133
[SPEAKER_01]: Blood's batter was found on the wall behind the couch, and the front window was open, with the screen removed.

05:30.174 --> 05:35.980
[SPEAKER_01]: An autopsy would later reveal that Jessica had died from a combination of strangulation and blunt force trauma.

05:36.881 --> 05:43.609
[SPEAKER_01]: Additionally, other injury patterns determined that the assailant

05:43.842 --> 05:47.588
[SPEAKER_01]: and liked Denise Sam Callie, Jessica had also been raped.

05:48.770 --> 06:02.452
[SPEAKER_01]: Now on July 18th, 1993, only four days after the vicious murder of Jessica Jean Fortney, the Sam Callie's return to their Allentine home, thinking that the ordeal that Denise had suffered was well behind them.

06:03.413 --> 06:07.700
[SPEAKER_01]: But at roughly 4 a.m., the couple awoke to noises from the back of the home.

06:08.581 --> 06:10.845
[SPEAKER_01]: Then, the back door opened.

06:10.943 --> 06:15.513
[SPEAKER_01]: Only this time, a security alarm went off loudly, scaring the intruder away.

06:16.736 --> 06:18.780
[SPEAKER_01]: The couple was absolutely terrified.

06:18.840 --> 06:23.310
[SPEAKER_01]: If Denise's attacker came back once, who's to say that he wouldn't return again.

06:23.370 --> 06:26.978
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Sam Callies went back to the police.

06:27.211 --> 06:36.244
[SPEAKER_01]: Now due to the risky behavior of returning to a victim's home, investigators knew their suspect was extremely dangerous, so they came up with a plan.

06:36.965 --> 06:43.755
[SPEAKER_01]: An officer would stay inside the Sam Cali home every night, ready to catch the man in the act if you returned.

06:44.636 --> 06:47.160
[SPEAKER_01]: Fortunately for the police, it wouldn't take long.

06:48.001 --> 06:56.914
[SPEAKER_01]: Only 13 days later on July 31, 1993, Officer Brian Lewis was assigned the night shift inside

06:57.046 --> 07:04.419
[SPEAKER_01]: At around 125 AM, Officer Lewis heard the sound of door knobs rattling, like someone was trying to find an unlocked door.

07:05.300 --> 07:07.885
[SPEAKER_01]: Then a figure appeared in the home's front window.

07:08.847 --> 07:13.755
[SPEAKER_01]: Officer Lewis watched as the man removed the screen and slowly climbed inside.

07:13.735 --> 07:20.744
[SPEAKER_01]: And once standing in the home, the officer called out for the man to stop, but the attacker ran, retreating into the kitchen.

07:21.425 --> 07:22.787
[SPEAKER_01]: Then, gun fire.

07:23.348 --> 07:26.472
[SPEAKER_01]: As officer Lewis and the unknown attacker exchange round.

07:27.133 --> 07:34.783
[SPEAKER_01]: Lewis retreated to a bedroom for cover, hearing banging and ripping at the home's kitchen door, he returned only to find that the kitchen was now empty.

07:35.604 --> 07:42.072
[SPEAKER_01]: Denise's attacker

07:42.220 --> 07:46.506
[SPEAKER_01]: but it wouldn't be long before Officer Lewis was standing face-to-face with his suspect.

07:47.267 --> 07:52.074
[SPEAKER_01]: You see, at around 3.30 in the morning, the Officer was dispatched to a local hospital.

07:52.795 --> 07:57.301
[SPEAKER_01]: A man had come in with fresh, bleeding wounds to both of his arms and legs.

07:58.203 --> 08:02.068
[SPEAKER_01]: Staff of the hospital found the injuries to be suspicious and called them in.

08:02.993 --> 08:12.727
[SPEAKER_01]: Louis arrived and immediately recognized the man as the intruder in the Sam Cali home, and he would later be identified as 18-year-old Harvey Miguel Robinson.

08:13.949 --> 08:16.332
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson was born in Allentown in 1974.

08:17.714 --> 08:25.525
[SPEAKER_01]: His childhood was filled with violence and dysfunction, mostly because of his father, Harvey Rodriguez Robinson.

08:25.690 --> 08:27.493
[SPEAKER_01]: and alcoholic and convicted felon.

08:28.355 --> 08:33.744
[SPEAKER_01]: In 1962, the Elder Robinson was working as a jazz musician in Potstown, Pennsylvania.

08:34.525 --> 08:37.771
[SPEAKER_01]: He had been dating a 27-year-old woman named Marlene Perez.

08:38.753 --> 08:47.428
[SPEAKER_01]: One night in a fit of rage, Robinson senior beat Marlene to death, striking her violently in the head and face until she was nearly unrecognizable.

08:47.999 --> 08:52.736
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson would be convicted of the crime in sentenced to 12 years in state prison in 1963.

08:54.322 --> 08:59.460
[SPEAKER_01]: Upon his release, he would marry Barbara Brown, a woman 20 years younger than him.

08:59.558 --> 09:02.982
[SPEAKER_01]: The couple had only been married for about two and a half years before divorcing.

09:03.743 --> 09:07.668
[SPEAKER_01]: Barbara didn't want Harvey Jr. growing up in a bad or violent environment.

09:08.509 --> 09:13.035
[SPEAKER_01]: His father would move to the town of Bethlehem, and Harvey would visit him every two weeks.

09:13.515 --> 09:16.859
[SPEAKER_01]: But when he returned to his mother's home, he would be uncontrollable.

09:17.400 --> 09:20.164
[SPEAKER_01]: And as he grew older, there were further signs of trouble.

09:20.904 --> 09:28.654
[SPEAKER_01]: By nine, he had already been arrested, and he would continue to accumulate charges for crimes

09:28.634 --> 09:36.223
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson would assault teachers, and at the age of 13, he was suspected of brutally beating a girl with a brick inside of her bedroom.

09:36.844 --> 09:39.027
[SPEAKER_01]: However, he would never be charged for that crime.

09:39.988 --> 09:44.153
[SPEAKER_01]: Though we seem to enjoy violence on the surface, he appeared to live in normal life.

09:45.314 --> 09:53.224
[SPEAKER_01]: At age 17, he was spending time with his girlfriend, driving around town in a 1984 Chrysler

09:53.288 --> 09:55.351
[SPEAKER_01]: He had friends just like any other teenager.

09:56.052 --> 10:06.027
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, on the night that he was caught by Officer Lewis, Robinson had been in a party leaving it at some point to go back to the Sam Cali residence and telling his girlfriend that he would meet up with her later.

10:07.108 --> 10:20.308
[SPEAKER_01]: As Robinson became older, everything seemed normal, but inside there were growing violent urges, and he would first act on them in the summer of 1992, at just 17 years old.

10:21.200 --> 10:28.887
[SPEAKER_01]: On August 5, 1992, 29-year-old Joan Berghardt left her first floor at Alentown apartment to take a friend home.

10:29.628 --> 10:32.410
[SPEAKER_01]: But when she came back, she noticed something odd.

10:33.351 --> 10:37.796
[SPEAKER_01]: Before she left, she opened the back patio door but locked the screen in front of it.

10:38.596 --> 10:50.127
[SPEAKER_01]: Joan noticed that the patio door was now closed, and when she investigated, she found a roughly six to eight inch rip near the lock on the screen door.

10:50.512 --> 10:54.820
[SPEAKER_01]: She also noticed that $40 to $50 have been taken from a piggy bank in her bedroom.

10:55.842 --> 11:01.974
[SPEAKER_01]: Now she immediately called the police and reported the burglary and they took note of the report but there wasn't really much that they could do.

11:02.014 --> 11:06.242
[SPEAKER_01]: However, unbeknownst to Joan, this was only the beginning.

11:20.110 --> 11:25.979
[SPEAKER_01]: only four days later on August 9th, Alan Town Police received a call from Burkhardt's neighbor.

11:26.941 --> 11:31.407
[SPEAKER_01]: According to Collard, Joan Stereo had been on for three nights and for three days.

11:32.409 --> 11:39.700
[SPEAKER_01]: She also shared that on one of those nights, it sounded like Joan had been physically fighting with someone, hitting the walls and screaming.

11:40.521 --> 11:44.127
[SPEAKER_01]: The neighbor had walked over and rung the doorbell, but no one answered.

11:44.461 --> 11:51.173
[SPEAKER_01]: Officers were quickly dispatched to the scene, and when they arrived, they found that the screen and the apartment's front window had been removed.

11:52.034 --> 12:00.268
[SPEAKER_01]: When walking around the back of the residents, they also found that the screens of the back window had been pushed out and was now laying in the grass underneath the window.

12:01.470 --> 12:07.701
[SPEAKER_01]: Officers could hear the television blaring loudly, but both the front and back doors of the apartment were locked.

12:08.086 --> 12:11.752
[SPEAKER_01]: when they finally gained access to the unit, they were met with tragedy.

12:12.573 --> 12:13.895
[SPEAKER_01]: Joan Birdhart was dead.

12:14.716 --> 12:16.820
[SPEAKER_01]: Lying on her stomach on the living room floor.

12:17.581 --> 12:21.006
[SPEAKER_01]: And just like Jessica Fortney, she was nude from the waist down.

12:21.687 --> 12:26.475
[SPEAKER_01]: Blood covered the couch, walls, and floors, and Joan had been beaten severely about the head.

12:26.495 --> 12:31.242
[SPEAKER_01]: An autopsy would reveal that she had been sexually assaulted and bludgeoned to death.

12:31.903 --> 12:35.629
[SPEAKER_01]: Suffering 37 blunt force trauma injuries to her head.

12:36.233 --> 12:41.722
[SPEAKER_01]: Berghard's body had also suffered defensive wounds, indicating that she had tried to fight off her attacker.

12:42.744 --> 12:47.272
[SPEAKER_01]: Investigators were able to gather evidence at the scene hoping to find the killer's DNA.

12:48.213 --> 12:52.981
[SPEAKER_01]: This included a blood-soaked shirt and a pair of black shorts that appeared to contain semen.

12:53.803 --> 13:00.013
[SPEAKER_01]: Police were on the hunt for a killer, but what they didn't know was that they

13:00.348 --> 13:10.083
[SPEAKER_01]: Shortly after the murder of Joan Berghart, Harvey Robinson had been arrested for an unrelated burglary, for which he was just shy of a year in juvenile prison.

13:10.824 --> 13:13.849
[SPEAKER_01]: But when he was released, he felt the urge to kill again.

13:13.889 --> 13:22.923
[SPEAKER_01]: Roughly 10 months later on June 9, 1993, Alan Town Police responded to a call of a reported missing person.

13:23.945 --> 13:27.250
[SPEAKER_01]: A resident had become suspicious about their

13:28.006 --> 13:33.112
[SPEAKER_01]: The delivery girl, 15-year-old Charlotte Schmoyer, was usually incredibly punctual.

13:33.753 --> 13:39.600
[SPEAKER_01]: But the resident noticed that the girl's delivery cart was unattended, and their neighbor had received their paper.

13:40.140 --> 13:43.424
[SPEAKER_01]: When officers investigated, they noticed that the cart was half full.

13:44.265 --> 13:50.132
[SPEAKER_01]: A Walkman radio in its headphones were found separated and lying on the ground between two houses.

13:50.247 --> 13:55.473
[SPEAKER_01]: They also noticed finger streaks on the window pane of a door to a nearby garage.

13:55.493 --> 14:01.540
[SPEAKER_01]: Because of this, investigators believed that a struggle had occurred and that the 15-year-old charlet had been abducted.

14:02.582 --> 14:09.610
[SPEAKER_01]: A search was immediately underway, and sadly investigators would learn of the teenager's fate only a few hours later.

14:10.871 --> 14:18.280
[SPEAKER_01]: While searching a heavily-witted area at

14:19.087 --> 14:22.090
[SPEAKER_01]: and while following it, they made a heartbreaking discovery.

14:23.252 --> 14:27.076
[SPEAKER_01]: There buried beneath some logs was the body of Charlotte Schmoyer.

14:27.857 --> 14:31.962
[SPEAKER_01]: Her sweatshirt had been pulled up, with her sweat pants and panties down around her knees.

14:33.083 --> 14:38.910
[SPEAKER_01]: Officers observed a large, gaping wound in her throat, as well as multiple stab wounds to her back and neck.

14:39.651 --> 14:45.718
[SPEAKER_01]: There was also patterned bruising on the girl's face, indicating that she had been kicked

14:46.036 --> 14:52.289
[SPEAKER_01]: An autopsy would later reveal that the teenager had been stabbed 22 times with a single edge knife.

14:53.191 --> 14:55.676
[SPEAKER_01]: Some had occurred while Charlotte was still alive.

14:56.699 --> 15:00.687
[SPEAKER_01]: And like the previous victims, she had also been sexually assaulted.

15:01.088 --> 15:04.553
[SPEAKER_01]: A vaginal swab was done, and a DNA sample was collected.

15:05.334 --> 15:10.782
[SPEAKER_01]: Investigators were also able to collect hair samples from the body that they suspected belonged to their killer.

15:11.584 --> 15:18.914
[SPEAKER_01]: Harvey Miguel Robinson had brutally raped and murdered two victims in less than a year, and he was about to strike again.

15:18.954 --> 15:28.108
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson had begun stalking woman who caught his eye.

15:28.797 --> 15:33.186
[SPEAKER_01]: But when he found the woman in bed with her boyfriend, he decided on a different victim.

15:34.007 --> 15:35.931
[SPEAKER_01]: The woman's five-year-old daughter.

15:37.093 --> 15:40.120
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson entered the room and sexually assaulted the child.

15:40.681 --> 15:43.907
[SPEAKER_01]: Then, he strangled the girl, leaving her for dead.

15:45.029 --> 15:49.438
[SPEAKER_01]: But luckily, defying all odds, the child regain consciousness.

15:49.705 --> 15:52.648
[SPEAKER_01]: and she was able to alert her mother about the attack.

15:53.389 --> 15:59.096
[SPEAKER_01]: Harvey Miguel Robinson was a monster, roaming the streets of Alentown and attacking indiscriminately.

15:59.877 --> 16:05.243
[SPEAKER_01]: And only 19 days later, he would enter the home of Denise Sam Callie for the first time.

16:06.324 --> 16:14.413
[SPEAKER_01]: Now moving back to the hospital on July 31, 1993, with Robinson and Custody, a search warrant was issued for his home.

16:14.512 --> 16:19.263
[SPEAKER_01]: Investigators recovered a black ski masking gloves hidden under the cushions of a sofa.

16:20.125 --> 16:24.676
[SPEAKER_01]: Additionally, a green and purple striped rugby shirt was found soaked in blood.

16:25.699 --> 16:29.247
[SPEAKER_01]: Investigators also found drops of blood throughout the home.

16:29.311 --> 16:43.938
[SPEAKER_01]: Latex gloves as well as blood stains, socks, and shorts were collected, and a pair of black high-tech sneakers were also taken, as well as a loaded 380 semi-automatic handgun that was later determined to have been stolen from the Sam Cali's home.

16:44.780 --> 16:53.175
[SPEAKER_01]: Officer Lewis was able to identify the blood stain shirt and shorts as the clothes that Robinson was wearing when he broke in earlier in the evening.

16:53.375 --> 17:00.808
[SPEAKER_01]: The sneakers would be examined, and it would later be determined that the pattern on the shoe matched the bruising found on Charlotte Schmoyer's face.

17:01.649 --> 17:09.763
[SPEAKER_01]: Also while being treated for laceration in the hospital, they were able to find evidence of the bite mark that Denise Sam Callie had left on Robinson's arm.

17:10.773 --> 17:17.262
[SPEAKER_01]: Investigators would also search Robinson's Chevy laser, as well as his mother's powder blue, Ford or Tempo.

17:17.943 --> 17:19.405
[SPEAKER_01]: Blood would be found in both.

17:20.146 --> 17:29.179
[SPEAKER_01]: And a witness would tell police that they saw that same Tempo only a few blocks away from the Allentown Reservoir on the day that Charlottes Moyers body was found.

17:29.960 --> 17:35.048
[SPEAKER_01]: But it would be the DNA collected from the previous crime scenes that put the final nail in the coffin.

17:35.949 --> 17:38.873
[SPEAKER_01]: Harvey Miguel Robinson was a perfect match.

17:39.258 --> 17:44.170
[SPEAKER_01]: His DNA matched the seam and found on not one, but all five victims.

17:45.273 --> 17:54.516
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson was arrested in charge with three counts of first-to-remotor, as well as attempted homicide, rape, burglary, and criminal trespass.

17:55.087 --> 18:01.903
[SPEAKER_01]: He would plead guilty and be convicted in November of 1994, only one month before turning 20 years old.

18:02.785 --> 18:09.822
[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson would be sentenced to death for the three murder charges, making him the youngest serial killer ever to be on death row.

18:10.207 --> 18:16.878
[SPEAKER_01]: However, his sentence would later be reduced to life in prison for Joan Burhart's murder, as he was only 17 at the time.

18:17.740 --> 18:23.810
[SPEAKER_01]: Additionally, Robinson waved his right to appeal and exchange for another life sentence in the Charlotte Schmoyer case.

18:24.572 --> 18:31.303
[SPEAKER_01]: However, he remained on death row for the murder of Jessica Jean Fortney, a sentence that was upheld in 2013.

18:32.127 --> 18:39.716
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, in 2019, Robinson appealed to Joan Burkhardt case again, and a judge would reduce the sentence to 35 years.

18:40.537 --> 18:45.523
[SPEAKER_01]: During the trial, Judge Edward D. Readman asked Robinson an interesting question.

18:46.404 --> 18:49.127
[SPEAKER_01]: Would he be willing to donate his brain to science?

18:49.788 --> 18:55.755
[SPEAKER_01]: Saying, I think the one gift you can give the community is helping science understand your behavior.

18:56.427 --> 19:03.141
[SPEAKER_01]: But no matter Harvey Robinson's decision, I don't think we could ever truly understand how this monster was made.

19:04.043 --> 19:10.757
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's this week's case, and I have to share with you as I was going through and doing the research on this.

19:11.429 --> 19:17.922
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that this case is a perfect example of why this podcast was started in the first place.

19:18.543 --> 19:23.072
[SPEAKER_01]: All those years back with Olivia, it was cases exactly like this.

19:23.172 --> 19:28.542
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember getting the idea for this podcast, I think it was like shortly after watching the Night Stocker documentary.

19:29.304 --> 19:31.969
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's this idea that your home,

19:32.236 --> 19:34.140
[SPEAKER_01]: your safe, you're in the sanctuary.

19:34.160 --> 19:40.311
[SPEAKER_01]: It's supposed to be the one place where you can go and not have to worry about things, right?

19:40.331 --> 19:47.865
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're in the comfort of your own home, and to know that there is a monster walking the street.

19:48.284 --> 19:52.409
[SPEAKER_01]: that is looking to rip that away from you is absolutely terrifying.

19:52.950 --> 19:57.576
[SPEAKER_01]: And then to factor in the age of how old Robinson was.

19:57.696 --> 20:02.602
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all of these crimes were committed before he was, you know, 20 years old.

20:02.762 --> 20:11.794
[SPEAKER_01]: This is still a child, the very disturbed and and just emotionally upsetting child.

20:13.107 --> 20:20.659
[SPEAKER_01]: to think that someone so young would be capable of such a heinous act is absolutely terrifying to me.

20:20.839 --> 20:40.650
[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, going through this and thinking about this as someone who has a daughter and a wife and, you know, especially thinking about the Sam Callies, you know, I've left out of town and had to travel for work before and, you know, the last thing that you would expect is something like this to happen while you're away.

20:42.149 --> 21:08.764
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, just to know there's people out there like this, and then the other thing that really stuck with me and I'm very interested to hear what the locksmith think as well, but just the sheer, I don't know what to call it other than like guts to attack the Nissan Cali and then the feeling I have to go back, I have to finish the job not once but twice.

21:09.554 --> 21:21.677
[SPEAKER_01]: that scared me in a way that I can just not put into words that somebody would be willing to do that, especially once you know that your victim is onto you, they know what's happening.

21:22.219 --> 21:28.170
[SPEAKER_01]: So the compulsion to have to finish this terrible task.

21:28.876 --> 21:30.478
[SPEAKER_01]: It just blows my mind.

21:30.558 --> 21:38.866
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the research, I didn't mention this as we're going through, but I did let everybody know that Robinson had a girlfriend at the time.

21:38.946 --> 21:54.561
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the research, I found that, you know, he saw in his head is, well, you know, once he had finished the task, you know, once he was able to murder Denise Sam Callie, then he could go back to living his normal life with his, his girlfriend.

21:54.581 --> 21:58.545
[SPEAKER_01]: It would be like, you know, now that's in the past, there's no unfinished work for him to do.

21:59.318 --> 22:01.541
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is just absolutely terrifying.

22:01.581 --> 22:07.310
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, it's got under my skin in a way that is very, very hard to explain.

22:08.532 --> 22:12.798
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I think perfectly emphasizes why this podcast was started.

22:12.919 --> 22:15.983
[SPEAKER_01]: So from a deadbolt test, this is gonna be a 10 for me.

22:16.003 --> 22:22.954
[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, we are gonna keep the deadbolt test going because I think it's a great opportunity to hear from a listeners and the community around the show.

22:23.034 --> 22:26.980
